What I’m Up to Now

Updated 1/3/22

(This is a now page, and if you have your own site, you might want to make one, too.)

  1. Building a respectful/responsive parenting community in Chicago. My son is now 4 years old and I spend the majority of the time exploring life with him. I’m working on building a community of like-minded parents to share this journey with. I’m exploring the idea of alternative schooling approaches and will need a supportive community to go this route. Plus, I am so grateful to have found the RIE/respectful approach shortly before my son was born and love sharing this approach with others so that they can benefit the same way I have.
  2. Getting to know myself. I’ve been learning about boundaries for the past few years and I know feel like I’ve made serious progress. I’m continuing to follow my interests and make connections between things. I’m really focused on following my “yeses” and honoring my “nos.” The pandemic was a huge impetus in this process and gave me the space to realize how much I was giving in to other’s expectations. While there were awful things that came from the pandemic, one of the benefits was that it helped my family to better establish our own rituals and to create a life that felt much more supportive to how we wanted to live.
  3. Making my home spark joy. I have been on a journey of self-discovery for the last few years and one of my favorite tools is fine-tuning my surroundings to create a space that brings joy and supports me in becoming the person I want to be. I use this site and hopefully Instagram soon to chronicle this project.
  4. Buying and renovating a new home to Net Zero/Passive House standards. This has been a dream for a long time and it looks like this will finally be the year we take the plunge. I’ve been planning and saving and waiting…I think it’s been 7 years of waiting now… and I think I’m finally ready. I’ll soon start chronicling my journey of choosing a home and  planning/completing renovations.
  5. Getting Phius & LFA certified. I’ve long wanted to do the Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) and Living Future Accreditation (LFA) certifications and I’m doing them now to make my own journey to upgrading my current home and future home easier and to help others do the same.
  6. New business doing Business Intelligence & Data Analytics consulting. My husband and I have recently decided to partner in a company focused on providing Business Intelligence & Data Analytics consulting. More info coming soon.
